Our Roots
Heroes Camp provides various community programs using a seasonal, semester approach. Session
lengths vary from 7-12 weeks, with different types of programs being offered throughout the year.
Heroes Camp Ontario was launched in 2014 based on the model of Heroes Camp https://heroescamp.com/ in Grand Bend, IN, as a ministry of Bramalea Christian Fellowship (BCF).
In the fall of 2014, Heroes Camp Ontario Ltd. was created as a separate non-profit, independent of BCF. Initially, it consisted of a weekly basketball program targeting those in financial need. In January 2018, a weekly dance program was added, and additional mid-week summer programming was added in summer 2019. The 2020-21 Covid pandemic substantially impacted the delivery of Heroes Camp programming; however, the resilience of our staff and volunteer team allowed us to continue operations and re-launch. In Summer 2022, Heroes Camp programming expanded to include volleyball for high school students, a homework club for elementary and junior high students, and our ongoing basketball and dance programs.
Our Mission
To advance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of children and youth. To address and
prevent problems faced by children and youth by operating supervised children/youth drop-in pro-
grams that provide structured activities directed towards developing a sense of community for both
newcomers to Canada and longer term residents. To build community by addressing and helping to
prevent specific problems faced by families through the creation of mentoring programs, and workshops.
